Marketing Strategy + Effective Communication = Business Growth

Marketing Plans

An architect uses blueprints. A baker has a recipe. A bus driver keeps a schedule. Even a box instructs which way is up. And yet, many companies go haphazardly at their advertising, forgetting the all-important marketing plan.

People often confuse a business plan for a marketing plan, and while the names should be self-explanatory, let's take a deeper look at the marketing plan. For all intents and purposes, a marketing plan has strategic objectives and specific actions in order to promote a product, service, or brand. You don't scribble these things down on napkins or send them out via an office memo. These marketing objectives should be clear-cut goals and precise measurables for a minimum of one year, and can go up to five years.

Simply put, the marketing plan is a road map for your advertising and communications. The cores of the plan are "objectives" (goals), and the "strategies" (means to get there). Your company objectives determine the strategy in the marketing plan. Issues such as budget, calculable goals (percentages, statistics, figures and data), research and timelines are key segments to determining the strategies.

For the most part, much of the development in your marketing plan can crossover to be used in your business plan, but the idea of a marketing plan is to decide where the focus or concentration of your advertising will be.

Potential investors or vendors may ask to see your marketing plan, so they can feel confident in the expansion and development of your company. After reading your marketing plan, they should have an understanding of how you plan to increase sales (thus increase their return on investment = $$$). This wouldn't be a prudent time to pull out that paper napkin clad with handwritten notes.

Considering where and how your marketing dollars will be spent helps align your goals to affect the end result, which is an increase in profit. We can help create an attainable and realistic marketing plan, which is paramount to your organization's growth.

PKG Communications approaches every marketing plan individually. Every organization, non-profit or for-profit, has unique goals, unique products and services, unique distribution...well let's just say each are completely unique. There isn't a cookie-cutter manuscript for this vital piece of your organization. We understand how your marketing plan will affect your business 1, 3, or even 5 years down the road. PKG Communications makes this our forethought, not an afterthought.
